Mr. Chris Erhi Omoru is a transactional lawyer and one of the pioneer staff of Midwestern Oil & Gas Company Limited, Nigeria’s largest and most successful Marginal Fields Operators in Nigeria. He was a member of the Midwestern Oil & Gas Company Limited’s Management Team, from inception, for over a decade until his secondment as an Executive Director to Mart Umusadege Resources Nigeria Limited where he is the Managing Director/CEO on June 1, 2018. He is also the Midwestern Group Chief Community Officer (GCCO) where he is responsible for the development of the Group’s strategy and policies covering community and government relations related Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Sustainability Planning and External Stakeholder Management.
Prior to his assignment to Mart as the MD/CEO, he was in charge of Services as an Executive Director where he oversees and directs operations in several business units such as General Office Administration, Legal, Procurement, External & Corporate Affairs, Community Affairs, Security, etc.
He obtained his LL.B from the University of Benin, Edo State and subsequently attended the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island Lagos where he was called to the Nigerian Bar. Thereafter, he attended the University of Lagos where he obtained a Master of Laws degree (LL.M), and an Executive Masters in Global Business from Said Business School, University of Oxford, United Kingdom. He is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School (GMP), and the prestigious Meridian International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) to the United States of America.
Chris Erhi Omoru also attended several Executive programmes both local and international with special focus in Energy and Natural Resources, Real Estate, Capital Markets/Mergers & Acquisitions, Banking and Finance, Dispute Resolution, etc. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, International Bar Association, Institute of Directors, and Chartered Institute of Arbitrators of the United Kingdom. He is a Notary Public of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
He had also worked for two different full-service commercial law firms in Nigeria prior joining Midwestern Oil & Gas Company Limited, Mr Omoru managed successfully the law firm of Ovbagbedia & Co. in the past and worked as Head of Chambers in G. M. Ibru & Co for about twelve years where he managed a number of successful acquisition and divestment projects around the world.
He is a specialist in investment, economic, oil, gas, energy and mineral law. He has in the past decades developed and advised a clientele ranging from small-sized organisations to medium and multinationals and entrepreneurs in several matters. He has on several occasions advised on transaction structuring, joint venture, reverse takeovers and trust formation, company acquisitions, rights issues and other stock exchange related transactions collaborating with both lawyers in the country and foreign lawyers in the course of his commercial law transactions in aviation, hospitality industry, project finance, foreign investments and privatization, natural resources especially in the oil and gas sector.
Chris Erhi Omoru serves on the Board of other companies with an interest in Energy, Oil & Gas, Investments, Real Estate, etc. He is a philanthropist, co-founder and trustee of Roxanne Care Foundation in Lagos State, Nigeria. This foundation focuses on fostering and promoting the health and social care needs of Nigerians utilising all resources geared toward this course.
