Mr. Victor Okolo holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Petroleum Engineering (1987) from the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. His oilfield experience started with Transocean (then Sedco Forex) as a trainee drilling engineer in 1988. This was followed by Schlumberger D&M (then Anadrill Schlumberger) with focus on MWD and directional drilling services from 1988 to 1994. He left Schlumberger as a General Field Engineer. Amongst others, his early experiences include being involved in drilling the first horizontal well in Nigeria for SPDC West.
He further worked for over twenty years (1994 to 2015) in various capacities with Statoil (Nigeria) Limited and Statoil ASA Norway from 1994 to 2015. He worked in well construction delivery as drilling engineer and offshore drilling supervisor mainly in subsea and Deepwater exploration drilling projects in Nigeria and the Norwegian North Sea. Victor was also involved in the engineering and supervision of the first deep water well in Nigeria (Oyo-1) in 1995 for the Statoil/BP-Allied Energy Resources partnership. Until now, he was Lead Engineer/Project Manager for Early Phase Field Development in Statoil ASA Norway in a team of engineers and experts and achieved project sanctions for subsea and platform-based field developments.
In the course of his professional career, he attended numerous courses both locally and overseas in operations and management as relates to the industry. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
Mr. Okolo is currently the Executive Director, Technical of Midwestern Oil & Gas Company Limited.
