Strengthening Professional Ties: APWEN Victoria Island Chapter Visits Midwestern

In a purposeful engagement focused on inclusion and professional advancement, the executives of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Victoria Island Chapter, led by Engr. Nneamaka Grace Ekechukwu paid a courtesy visit to Midwestern.

The delegation was received by our MD/CEO, Engr. (Mrs.) Elozino Olaniyan, FNSE, FNSChE, FNISafetyE, alongside senior female executives and women engineers within the organization.

The interaction provided a dynamic forum for dialogue on increasing female representation in engineering disciplines, strengthening mentorship structures, and building leadership pipelines for women in the energy sector.

Conversations also highlighted the importance of visibility, sponsorship, technical competence, and organizational culture in enabling women to thrive in traditionally male-dominated fields. As a company led by a female engineer, Midwestern continues to model inclusive leadership while promoting meritocracy and technical excellence.

The visit concluded with a shared commitment to collaborate on initiatives that encourage young girls to pursue STEM careers and support female engineers at every stage of their professional journey.
