In observance of the 2025 International Women’s Day (IWD), Midwestern Oil & Gas Company Limited reaffirmed its commitment to gender equality by reflecting on the global theme of the year, “Accelerate Action.” This theme calls for the acceleration of efforts to create gender parity and emphasizes the importance of taking bold, impactful actions toward achieving gender equality in all spheres of society.
The event was characterized by an all-purple theme, symbolizing the celebration of women and the collective action toward achieving equality. The GM of HR & Corporate Services, Tari Akhibi who addressed both the women and men of Midwestern at a brief session, held in honour of the women of Midwestern, emphasized the company’s commitment to promoting gender equality both within the organization and in the wider community.
The GM, HR & Corporate Services, delivered an inspiring address that highlighted the importance of International Women’s Day as not just a day of celebration, but a call to action. Her speech underscored Midwestern’s ongoing initiatives aimed at fostering an inclusive environment where women are empowered to succeed, while also engaging all employees, both men and women in the process of driving change.
According to her “At Midwestern, we believe that achieving true gender equality requires more than just acknowledgment, it demands continuous, decisive action. Our approach to IWD 2025 focused on reinforcing our dedication to supporting women within the organization and across the communities where we operate. While we did not host an event for the occasion, the day served as a reminder of the critical role that women play in the growth and sustainability of the oil and gas industry and beyond.”
The all-purple themed event created a sense of unity and solidarity, with employees dressed in purple to commemorate the occasion. The colour purple, historically associated with justice and dignity, symbolized Midwestern’s ongoing efforts to advance gender equality and empower women across the organization and the communities in which it operates.
This simple yet powerful display of unity reflected Midwestern’s core values of respect, accountability, and integrity, while fostering an inclusive atmosphere where employees could come together to reflect on the progress made and the actions needed to further advance gender equality.
