Midwestern Oil & Gas Company Limited hosted the Executive Board Members of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Lagos Section, during a courtesy visit to our Corporate Headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria.
The delegation, led by Section Chair Uju Igbokwe, accompanied by Section Director Oladipo Ashafa and members of the Executive Committee, was received by our MD/CEO, Engr. (Mrs.) Elozino Olaniyan, FNSE, FNSChE, FNISafetyE, alongside the Senior Management Team.


As one of the world’s foremost professional bodies in the upstream oil and gas industry, SPE plays a critical role in advancing technical knowledge, facilitating research dissemination, promoting ethical standards, and fostering continuous professional development across the energy value chain. Its platforms serve as vital channels for industry dialogue, innovation exchange, and capacity building.
During the engagement, discussions centered on strengthening collaboration between Midwestern and the Lagos Section, particularly in areas of knowledge sharing, mentorship, technical workshops, young professionals’ development, and thought leadership participation.
Midwestern acknowledged the pivotal role SPE continues to play in sustaining technical competence within the sector and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance industry standards and professional excellence. The visit underscored the importance of strong operator–professional body partnerships in navigating the evolving dynamics of Nigeria’s energy landscape.
