Midwestern Oil & Gas Company Limited and its Joint Venture (JV) partner, SunTrust Atlantic Energies Limited successfully hosted the maiden edition of its Host Community Vendor Capacity Building Workshop in Asaba, Delta State, under the theme: “Empowering Local Business, Fostering Growth: Unlocking Opportunities for Local Content Development.”
The workshop was organized as part of Midwestern JV’s commitment to strengthening local enterprise development and promoting greater participation of host community businesses within Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

The event brought together vendors and business representatives from the company’s host communities in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State, for knowledge-sharing sessions focused on business growth, industry requirements, procurement processes, Vendor Onboarding on the Vendor Management Platform (VMP) compliance expectations, and opportunities within the energy sector.
The initiative aligns with the objectives of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act, which seeks to increase indigenous participation and build local capacity across the oil and gas value chain.
Through practical presentations and interactive discussions, participants were equipped with insights designed to enhance their competitiveness, improve service delivery standards, and position their businesses for sustainable growth.
Speaking during the workshop, Mrs. Boma Alalibo, Head, Community Affairs reaffirmed Midwestern JV’s belief that sustainable community development extends beyond social investments to include deliberate efforts aimed at empowering local businesses and creating economic opportunities for host community members.
She said, “The workshop also served as a platform to strengthen relationships between our company and its host communities through meaningful engagement and collaboration.”

On his part, the Senior Manager, Supply Chain Management, Mr. Chris Nwabuikwu stated that the company remains committed to supporting local content development, promoting entrepreneurship, and creating shared value through initiatives that contribute to the long-term growth and prosperity of its host communities.
