Engr. Yusuf Usman, FNSE, FNSChE

Engr. Yusuf Usman is a distinguished energy executive with more than thirty years of leadership experience across Nigeria’s oil and gas value chain. He is the current Chairman of RanoAccrete Petroleum Development Company Limited, where he is shaping the organisation into a disciplined and efficient marginal field operator known for strong governance, operational excellence and reliable delivery. His leadership continues to position the company as a credible indigenous contributor to Nigeria’s upstream landscape.

He previously served as Chief Operating Officer, Gas and Power at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, one of the most critical portfolios within the corporation. In this role, he expanded domestic gas supply through strengthened transmission systems, increased market penetration through NGMC, and advanced national power generation efforts through the Abuja, Kaduna and Kano power plants as well as the Okpai Phase Two project. He also deepened NNPC’s participation in NLNG, West African Gas Pipeline operations and several strategic gas processing facilities. His leadership was instrumental in securing the Final Investment Decision for NLNG Train 7 and in progressing the Gas Master Plan objectives that underpin Nigeria’s long-term energy transition.

Before becoming COO, he served as Group General Manager and Senior Technical Assistant to the Group Managing Director of NNPC. He coordinated corporate strategy across twelve Business Focus Areas, managed high-level stakeholder engagements and produced technical and policy documentation for presidential and ministerial decision making. His earlier roles within NNPC include General Manager, Planning and Business Development in the Exploration and Production Directorate; Project Manager for the OB3 Gas Pipeline Project; Deputy Manager and Technical Assistant to the Minister of Petroleum Resources; and various engineering, project development and interface management roles across NGC, NAPIMS and the Gas and Power Directorate.

Engr. Usman began his industry career with Shell Petroleum Development Company as a Facilities and Project Engineer, supporting rehabilitation projects, gas compression systems and pipeline construction.

He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers. He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and has completed executive courses at Stanford and other leading global institutions
