Anthony Chukwudi Okoye is the Head, Quality, Health, Safety, Environment & Security of Midwestern Oil & Gas Company Limited. He holds a Bachelor of Science honours degree in Science Technology & Chemistry/Biochemistry from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka and a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from the University of Benin. He is currently concluding a doctorate program with Swiss Business School for Doctor of Business Leadership (DBL).
He possesses over 26 years’ experience in the Upstream, Service Sector, QHSE Management Consulting, Operations Management and Business Development of the Nigerian Oil & Gas industry.
Anthony’s professional career began with Hobel Resources Limited, an environmental / geosciences consulting firm where among other tasks, he supervised UNDP-assisted projects in Delta State, project-led Environmental Impact Assessments and provided professional consulting to Halden Nigeria Limited and G-Platinum Petroserve Limited. His other working experience cuts across several other companies including, Catalyst2000 Technologies Limited, Christar Resources International Limited, Shell Petroleum Development Company Limited Operations, Seplat Operations, Emval Holdings Limited and Eroton Exploration and Production Company Limited. He joined Midwestern Oil & Gas Company Limited in 2012 where he held senior and principal managerial positions as Head, QHSES.
He has numerous professional training & certifications within Nigeria and abroad in QHSES Management, Oil Spill Management, Project Management and Executive Team Leadership from Lagos Business School. He is also a Lead Auditor in ISO 14001, ISO 9000 & OHSAS 18001 Standards. He played a key role in Midwestern’s 10 million Man-hours Lost Time Injury-free milestone attained in 2016 and one of the foundation members that pioneered the bill on Institute of Registered Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON).
Anthony is a member of several professional bodies including – Institute of Registered Safety Professionals of Nigeria; Standards Organization of Nigeria QMS National Auditor; Nigerian Institute of Management; International Institute of Risk and Safety Management, United Kingdom; American Society of Safety Engineers; Technical Committee Member, Clean Nigeria Associate; Member, Nigeria Environmental Society, Member Safety & Environment Subcommittee of Oil Producers Trade Section of Lagos State Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Some of his achievements and awards include: Merit Award in recognition of Contributions to Professional Development of Nigerian Institute of Safety Professionals (NISP) (2007), HSE Merit in recognition of Outstanding Contribution to Emval Holdings Limited HSE Performance (2010), Clean Nigeria Associates Honours Award in recognition of invaluable contributions to CNA as Technical Committee Member (2015 – 2021), Umugini Pipeline Infrastructure Limited Distinguished Leadership Award in recognition of Outstanding HSE Leadership (2021) and Midwestern Oil & Gas Company Limited 5-years Long-service Award for his invaluable contributions and dedication to the company.
He is married to Ifeoma Okoye and they are blessed with children. His hobbies include football, photography, acting, flower gardening, environmental conservation & preservation.
