Tari Akhibi is a seasoned Human Resources professional with over 22 years of expertise in Human Resources Management. Her strong educational foundation in law and Human Resources Management equips her with a holistic and strategic perspective, enabling her to craft and deliver an innovative and impactful HR Strategy.
Tari holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law and called to the Nigerian Bar in 1999. She also bagged an MBA (Distinction) from Coventry University, London and a Certificate of Management Excellence from Harvard Business School, USA.
She began her career as a Lawyer at the law firms of Ntephe, Smith & Wills in Port Harcourt, where she gained foundational legal expertise before transitioning into Human Resources. She joined Shell Nigeria in the HR function proceeding to amass 18 years of experience in diverse HR roles spanning the entire HR lifecycle. Her expertise includes Change Management, Leadership Development, Organizational Resourcing and HR Business Partnering – she uniquely focuses on aligning HR strategies with organizational goals.
Subsequently, Tari served as General Manager, Human Resources and Corporate Services at Waltersmith. In this role, she drove the HR Strategy for the business supporting its business growth and expansion into a holistic Oil & Gas value-chain business, delivering the Acquisitions, Refinery, Gas & Power projects for the business. Her strategic HR leadership was pivotal in driving organizational growth, fostering a culture of excellence, and enhancing operational efficiency.
Tari is an avid advocate for continuous learning and professional development. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD, UK) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management Nigeria and the Chartered Management Institute, UK. As a WIMBOARD Fellow with Women in Business (WIMBIZ), Nigeria, she underscores her commitment to advancing women’s leadership and empowerment in the business world.
