Alex Chidozie Ejiofor (Engr.) is the Managing Director/CEO of MidSun GGF Global Limited, the midstream and downstream special purpose vehicle (SPV) subsidiary of the Midwestern Joint Venture (JV).
He holds an associate degree (Diploma) in Computer Engineering, bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering and a master’s degree in engineering management from the University of Benin. He also undertook an extensive training in Operations Management from the Proserv Management Academy Dubai UAE. Currently, He is pursuing an Executive master’s in business administration (MBA) from the respected Lagos business school (LBS).
He is a COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria) registered Engineer with 15 years cross-functional experience in the upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas/energy sector. His expertise in operations and project delivery management coupled with executive management experience working with top C-suite Executives focused on corporate and strategic leadership has given him a business and entrepreneurship perspective to compliment his technical skillsets. His track record includes operations management, project management, maintenance, construction, technical advisory, stakeholder management, process optimisation and QHSE. He has delivered operational excellence in multidimensional projects around MEA (Middle East and Africa).
Alex’ professional career began with Addax Petroleum as an Operations QAQC trainee Engineer (NYSC), where he amongst other tasks ensured operations equipment were fit for purpose prior to deployment to drilling and production facilities in the Addax OML 123, 124 and 126 assets. Later in his career at Addax, he assumed offshore roles as wellsite operations engineer, supervising drilling, production and maintenance operations on board jack up rigs and production platforms in the Addax OML 123 asset. Later, he was assigned as the only Nigerian amongst an expatriate subsea operations team tasked to manage the planning and execution of subsea drilling and production operations in the Addax OML 126 Okwori field.
His additional experience cuts across oil and gas service companies like JEF-TECH Oil Services Limited as a field operations engineer/supervisor. Succeeding his role as a subsea operations supervisor in Addax, he gained employment in a UK oil and gas service company, Proserv production technology (UK), as the first Nigerian to hold the position of worksite operations manager, having replaced an expatriate. Due to his outstanding performance, He was promoted in a year, to replace another expatriate as the base operations manager, overseeing all Proserv operations in Nigeria and later rose to operations and project delivery manager – Africa, overseeing all Proserv operations and projects within Africa. He was underway to becoming the Proserv Nigeria country manager via an accelerated succession training plan before he joined Midwestern in 2018 as Technical Advisor to the GMD.
Sequel to joining Midwestern, he supported the GMD in operations and technical advisory for 5 years until he was seconded and appointed as MD/CEO of MidSun, to manage the existing crude handling operations whilst expanding into greenfield project delivery management of a 10,000 bopd Modular refinery, 5MMSCF/d gas to LNG plant and additional gas commercialization efforts.
Alex is a member of several professional bodies including – Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE); Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN); Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE); Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) UK; Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON); Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), American Society of Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT). He has attended several management and leadership courses around the globe.
He is married with 3 children. His hobbies include mixed martial arts, boxing and reading.
